1. Installing and starting SysML plugin

1.1. Installing and starting SysML plugin with evaluation license

NOTE. License activation is not required for the demo and evaluation licenses.

  1. Start MagicDraw.
  2. On the Help menu, click Resource/Plugin Manager. For more information, see the “Resource Manager"“ section in MagicDraw UserManual.pdf.
  3. In the Resource/Plugin Manager dialog, click to select the SysML plugin.
  4. Click the Download/Install button.
  5. When you receive the message that additional plugins are required and will be installed, click OK.
  6. When you receive the message that the plugin installation is successful, click OK.
  7. Restart MagicDraw.
  8. When you receive the message asking if you want to switch the perspective, click Yes or No.
  9. In the Evaluation Startup Message dialog, you can check the plugin expiration date. Click OK when finished.

1.2. Installing and starting SysML plugin with commercial license

1.2.1. Installing and starting SysML plugin with commercial license – internet connection present

Preconditions: You have purchased the SysML plugin and received the license keys.
Your computer has internet connection.

1.2.1.1. Installing SysML plugin

  1. Start MagicDraw.
  2. On the Help menu, click Resource/Plugin Manager. For more information, see the “Resource Manager" section in MagicDraw UserManual.pdf.
  3. In the Resource/Plugin Manager dialog, click to select the SysML plugin.
  4. Click the Download/Install button.
  5. When you receive the message that the additional plugins need to be installed, click Continue. Then download and install the required plugins.
  6.  When you receive the message that the plugin installation is successful, click OK.

1.2.1.2. Unlocking SysML plugin

  1. In the Resource Plugin Manager dialog, click the Manage Licenses button.
  2. In the MagicDraw License Manager dialog, click the Select License Key Files button. Then in the Select Key File dialog, select the license key file and click Open.
  3. In the License Configuration dialog, check the license information and click OK.
  4. When you receive the message that MagicDraw should be restarted, click OK.
  5. Restart MagicDraw.
  6. In the MagicDraw License Agreement dialog, read the license agreement and click I agree.

1.2.1.3. Activating SysML plugin license online

The commercial license activation is required after the purchase transaction has been completed. The activation process allows receiving the commercial license dedicated for the particular machine.
  1. On the Help menu, click License Manager.
  2. In the MagicDraw License Manager dialog, click the Activate button.
  3. In the Activation dialog, click Online Activation.
  4. In the Select Edition/Plugin dialog, under the Plugins section, click to select the SysML plugin, and then click OK.
  5. In the License Configuration dialog, learn about the license information and click OK.
  6. When you receive the message that MagicDraw should be restarted, click OK.
  7. Restart MagicDraw.

1.2.2. Installing and starting plugin with commercial license – no internet connection present

Preconditions:

You have purchased the plugin and received the license keys.
Your computer has no internet connection.

1.2.2.1. Starting SysML plugin

  1. Start MagicDraw.
  2. On the Help menu, click Resource/Plugin Manager.
  3. In the Resource/Plugin Manager dialog, click the Import button.
  4. In the Select MagicDraw resources to import dialog, select the *.zip file and click Open.
  5. When you receive the warning that the additional plugins need to be installed, click Install. Then download and install the required plugins.
  6. When you receive the message that the plugin installation is successful, click OK.

1.2.2.2. Unlocking SysML plugin

  1. In the Resource Plugin Manager dialog, click the Manage Licenses button.
  2. In the MagicDraw License Manager dialog, click the Select License Key Files button and then in the Select Key File dialog, select the license key file and click Open.
  3. In the License Configuration dialog, check the license information and click OK.
  4. When you receive the message that MagicDraw should be restarted, click OK.
  5. Restart MagicDraw.

1.2.2.3. Activating SysML plugin license in offline mode

The commercial license activation is required after the purchase transaction has been completed. The activation process allows receiving the commercial license dedicated for the particular machine.
  1. On the Help menu, click License Manager.
  2. In the MagicDraw License Manager dialog, click the Activate button.
  3. In the Activation dialog, click Offline Activation.
  4. In the Offline Activation dialog, copy the text from the Host ID box. Note that without Host ID you will not be able to activate online.
  5. Open a new document, paste the Host ID and then save the document. Do not close dialogs in MagicDraw, you will return back to these dialogs after the few steps.
  6. On the computer that has a connection to the Internet, go to www.nomagic.com.
  7. In the upper-right corner, click the Login button and then login with the license owner account.
  8. At the upper-right side of the page, under Members, click License Activation Management.
  9. Click the Create New License Activation Record button. In the Create New License Activation Record window, fill out the form, paste the Host ID, and choose the license to activate. Click Save when finished. In the activation records table, the new record is displayed.
  10. In the Activation Records table, in the Get key column, click the send Send button to receive the license key by email or click the download Download button to save the key locally. You will receive the activated license key file, for example, Activated_key_For_<first name>_<last name>_.lic.
  11. In MagicDraw, the Offline Activation dialog, click the Select License Key Files button.
  12. In the Select License Key Files dialog, select the Activated_Key_For_<first name>_<last name>_.lic file and click Open.
  13. In the License Configuration dialog, learn about the license information and click OK.
  14. When you receive the message informing that MagicDraw should be restarted, click OK.
  15. Restart MagicDraw.

2. Uninstalling and deactivating plugin license

The deactivation is the process which allows the return activated licenses to the license pool. You may remove and return all activated (locked to the particular machine) commercial licenses by deactivating them.

2.1. Deactivating plugin license – internet connection present

If you want to deactivate the plugin you have to uninstall it.

  1. Start MagicDraw.
  2. On the Help menu, click Resource/Plugin Manager.
  3. In the Resource/Plugin Manager dialog, click to select the SysML plugin.
  4. Click the Remove button.
  5. When you receive the message asking if you want to remove the plugin, click OK.
  6. Restart MagicDraw.

TIP. To check the licensing information, on the Help menu, click About MagicDraw and then click the Licensing tab.

2.2. Deactivating plugin license – no internet connection present

If you want to deactivate the plugin you have to uninstall it.
  1. Start MagicDraw.
  2. On the Help menu, click Resource/Plugin Manager.
  3. In the Resource/Plugin Manager dialog, click to select the SysML plugin.
  4. Click the Remove button.
  5. When you receive the message asking if you want to remove the plugin, click OK.
  6. In the Offline License Deactivation dialog, copy the text from the License Deactivation ID box. Note that without Host ID you will not be able to activate online.
  7. Open a new document, paste the License Deactivation ID and then save the document.
  8. On the computer that has a connection to the Internet, go to www.nomagic.com.
  9. In the upper-right corner, click the Login button and then login with the license owner account.
  10. At the upper-right side of the page, under Members, click License Activation Management.
  11. In the Enter License Deactivation ID to free slot box, paste the text from the License Deactivation ID box.
  12. Click the Submit button.

3. Updating SysML Plugin

Plugins update differs when:

  1. Updating the plugin to the new version (for example, updating 17.0.5 plugin to 18.0).
  2. Applying the new plugin service pack (for example, applying 17.0.5 SP1 to 17.0.5 plugin).

3.1. Updating SysML plugin to the new version

If you updated MagicDraw to new version automatically (with internet connection), you need to update plugins as well. Please check plugins and the client compatibilities here: http://www.nomagic.com/support/compatibility.html

Before the updating SysML plugin to the new version please make sure you own the new version plugin.

3.1.1.1. Updating modeling platform

  1. Update MagicDraw to the new version.
  2. Start MagicDraw.
  3. When you receive the message informing that plugins are obsolete and should be updated, click OK.

3.1.1.2. Updating SysML plugin

  1. On the Help menu, click Resource/Plugin Manager. For more information, see the “Resource Manager" section in MagicDraw UserManual.pdf.
  2. In the Resource/Plugin Manager dialog, click to select the SysML plugin.
  3. Click the Download/Install button.
  4. When you receive the message asking if you want to replace the obsolete plugins with the new plugin version, click Yes.
  5. When you receive the message that the plugin will be updated on startup, click OK.
  6. Restart MagicDraw.

3.2. Applying SysML plugin service pack

To apply the new service pack to the plugin you have to install the new plugin service pack on top of the existing plugin.

3.2.1. Applying SysML plugin service pack – internet connection present

3.2.1.1. Applying SysML service pack

  1. Start MagicDraw.
  2. On the Help menu, click Resource/Plugin Manager. For more information, see the “Resource Manager" section in MagicDraw UserManual.pdf.
  3. In the Resource/Plugin Manager dialog, click to select the SysML plugin with the service pack to update.
  4. Click the Download/Install button.
  5. When you receive the message that the plugin will be updated on startup, click OK.
  6. Restart MagicDraw.

3.2.1.2. Activating SysML plugin license online

  1. On the Help menu, click License Manager.
  2. In the <Modeling> License Manager dialog, click the Activate button.
  3. In the Activation dialog, click Online Activation
  4. In the Select Edition/Plugin dialog, under the Plugins section, click to select the SysML plugin, and then click OK.
  5. In the License Configuration dialog, learn about the license information and click OK.
  6. When you receive the message that MagicDraw should be restarted, click OK.
  7. Restart MagicDraw.

TIP. To check the plugin version, from the Help menu, select About and then click the Licensing tab.

3.2.2. Applying SysML plugin service pack – no internet connection present

  1. Start MagicDraw.
  2. On the Help menu, click Resource/Plugin Manager. The Resource Plugin Manager dialog opens. For more information, see the “Resource Manager" section in MagicDraw UserManual.pdf.
  3. In the Resource/Plugin Manager dialog, click the Import button. In the Select MagicDraw resources to import dialog, select the plugin and click Open.
  4. When  you receive the message that the plugin will be updated on startup, click OK.
  5. Restart MagicDraw.

TIP. To check the plugin version, from the Help menu, select About MagicDraw and then click the Licensing tab.
