No Magic Introduces Long-Term Releases
LTR (Long-Term Release) Means Solid & Trusted Enterprise-Focused Software
Here is information you need to know
about No Magic's Long-Term Releases (LTRs)
Q1. What is the Long-Term Release (LTR), and why is it named LTR?
Long-Term Releases (LTRs) are made to accommodate the needs of a huge enterprise customer base who have extended MagicDraw’s capabilities with their own custom add-ons using our open extensible API or DSL engine. These long-term releases are extremely reliable, and provide guaranteed support for about three years. Longer-term support (up to five years) for a Long-Term Release (LTR) will be available for an additional charge.
The Long-Term Releases (LTRs) will be maintained with service packs for three years to fix major bugs encountered.
Q2. What is the value of the Long-Term Release (LTR) to individuals and organizations? Does it cost more?
Long-Term Release (LTR) users can count on having this specific release supported three years versus the previous six-month release cycle. The changes to a Long-Term Release (LTR) will be distributed via service packs. The first three service packs will include new features (released about every six months). The later ones will only correct major issues.
The Long-Term Releases (LTRs) provide guaranteed long-term support, rock-solid stability and reliability. Long-Term Releases (LTRs) will be supported for three years, and require active Software Assurance. With active Software Assurance, users will receive access to all updates and technical support.
Now, customers who have invested in custom add-ons to No Magic modeling tools can plan with confidence when those customizations will need to be updated to a set schedule.
Q3. How often are Long-Term Release (LTR) made available?
Long-Term Releases (LTRs) will be released about every 18 months. No Magic's current Long-Term Release (LTR) is 19.0. The 3-year support for this release will end in July 2021. Next upcoming release 20.0 is planned for the end of year 2020.
Q4. Can some of our licenses be running a Long-Term Release (LTR) and others running a service pack of the same Long-Term Release (LTR)?
Yes. However, we strongly recommend that users working on the same project would use the same service pack, as some service packs might include new features.
Q5. What is the difference between major versions (such as 19.0 and 20.0) and minor versions (such as 19.0 SP2 and 19.0 SP3)?
The differences between two major versions include metamodel changes or other significant changes in capabilities.
The differences between two minor versions may include an update to standards or other less significant changes.
Q6. Will all No Magic software be available in Long-Term Releases (LTRs), or just MagicDraw?
All No Magic solutions will be available in a Long-Term Release (LTR) including all MagicDraw versions, Cameo Enterprise Architecture, Cameo Systems Modeler, Cameo Business Modeler, UAF and SysML plugins, and other solutions based on MagicDraw.
Q7. How can I get more information about Long-Term Releases (LTRs)?
